Autobiography
My name is Mackenzie Brockie and I am the son of Mike and Debbie Brockie. I have four brother and sisters. My brothers are Johnny, nineteen and Brogan, twelve. My sisters are Alexis, sixteen, and Molly, ten. I am nineteen and currently a senior at Hanover- Horton High School. When I leave Hanover-Horton, I will continue my education at Jackson College where I plan on studying to become a sports instructor.
I have always been the type of person who needs to know how things work, and what makes them work as they do. When I see a person struggling I immediately think “why would they think that way” or “what makes them do what they do” most of the time I know what the cause is and helping others makes me feel accomplished and helpful to other people. I will admit, sometimes I have no idea what some people think and why they do what they do, but I truly believe that’s what drives me to help others out.

Skill: Athletic
Playing sports since I was 7 years old is one of the main reasons why I’m athletic. Being athletic makes me very confident in everyday tasks. A plus of being athletic is being fit and healthy. I take pride in my health which will help me stay productive from day to day.
Being on varsity for both basketball and golf is a huge accomplishment for me and I know it wouldn’t have been done if it wasn’t for my athleticism. Playing with older and wiser players as a freshman each day in practice taught me many things that I wouldn’t have learned if I didn’t get the opportunity to compete with the faster pace of play that came with varsity athletes. As far as basketball goes it taught me that you have to react quick in a situation or else you’d lose the ball and sit the bench. So it forced me to make the right decision in a fast manner. With golf, playing with the older kids, taught me new shots and new ways to think around the golf course. Such as keeping my composer and not dwelling on a bad shot.
In my future career as a golf instructor, being athletic will give me the ability to be flexible when trying to teach a client a new swing to practice. Or if I have to hold a camera while holding up a prompt to show my client their swing I can do it with ease without any complications. I’ll also be reliable to my clients because I’ll be healthy and won’t have to worry about getting sick at all and not being able to attend the lesson. Being athletic is a skill I take pride in and it will help me go far in my future career as a golf instructor.

Skill: Determined
I chose the skill determined because when I play golf it takes a lot of focus and determination to score low. If your mind wonders and you’re not in the right state of mind things can go very wrong on the golf course. You have to stay determined for each shot that you take, if not things can turn on you very quick.
All throughout my life I have been very determined at everything I do. I started to play golf at a very young age and it taught me to be focused and determined. Being determined can help a lot in my future as a golf instructor. Each client will be different; some may have no confidence to improve, but with my determination I can improve their golf game and make sure they’ll leave with a lower score and many things to think about to help better their golf game.
Being determined is a characteristic that I believe I do have and I take a lot of pride in it. Determination can take you far in life and you can achieve whatever you want as long as you stay determined through it.

Skill: Leadership
I chose leadership as my skill because I believe leadership is a very important characteristic to have. On the basketball team I felt like I was a leader because many people looked up to what I did.
As a freshman I made the varsity basketball team. Being one of the youngest on the team I had a ton of people to look up too. As I observed everything going on around me and how the captains treated the rest of the team, I started to figure out the things I wanted to do as a captain and even the things I didn’t want to do. For example; I didn’t want to be a captain who tried to act as if the coach.
My junior year I was one of the captains on the basketball team. The coach picks who the captains are and it was an honor to have been chosen. As a captain it’s very important to be a good role model because there are a lot of people watching everything you do in and outside of the sport. Not only did I have all those people in the community but more importantly the younger boys who looked up to me and copied every move I made.
Being a good leader is very important for many different ways. As a leader people look up to you and based on the attitude you have is how the team will feel. Leadership is very important to me and I take pride in my leadership skills.
